Brinsworth
Comprehensive School in Rotherham is a large, successful
and ambitious multi-cultural secondary school and sixth
form with excellent laboratory and ICT facilities. With
over 1450 pupils aged 11-19 the task of keeping track of
fixed assets can be challenging making the auditing process
problematic, time consuming and open to human error.
A
basic Access Database had previously been utilised by Brinsworth
to monitor the movement of thousands of items of IT and electrical
equipment such as visual imaging apparatus and computers,
however, this method was proving to be hugely time consuming & keeping
track of the items was becoming increasingly more difficult.
Senior
IT technician Kathleen Allott asked asset-tracking
specialists, ExPD to demonstrate the tangible
benefits of implementing Asset-i the strategic
asset management system after investigating
other database options. Using traditional barcode
technologies Asset-i tracks each asset
creating a full audit trail throughout the
lifetime of the item.
“Having seen Asset-i,
its simple functionality and
user friendly navigation there
was no competition” said
Kathleen “It is easy
to use & easy to show others
and the help files are good,
we are still implementing the
system but we are really pleased
with it.”
The
primary benefits of time saving, tracking & logging the
movement of kit as part of the end-to-end capability of Asset-i’
have been demonstrated to Brinsworth Comprehensive. Future
auditing activities will be much quicker, smoother & far
less arduous.
