Asset-i can be used as a replacement for a spreadsheet without the need for anything more than the software. However, to derive maximum benefit from the system with the ability to perform asset audits, real-time movement tracking, on-the-fly new asset registrations and look-ups etc. you can take advantage of the bar code interface, available in both versions of Asset-i.
